| We head towards Mt. Vernon to
get on the Interstate. Gee… I hope we are in the right state. There
are a lot of cattle farms here and we see exotic animals on them…
ostriches, llamas, emus and some strange animal with stripes on its
face that looks like a goat. The RV has racked up 585 miles
since we left Nashville. We pull out of good ole Bob's State Park
and head west once more. It is approximately 150 miles to Dallas.
Forty-eight more miles and we will be in Dallas. There is something
about Texas that makes everything look bigger. It is quite
unbelievable until you see it. There are ranches everywhere and at
the driveway, all of them have archway openings with the name of the
ranch. |

There is a very strong head wind
today. It will probably take us a week to get to Dallas. |

| Some country vocabulary is
starting to sneak out of Paul's mouth... example: "flat dark",
"don't cotton to it" and "in a spell" (It's not flat dark,
you can see the lake, and she doesn't cotton to it, meaning
she doesn't like it, and I haven't seen a rest stop in a spell).
Lord! I hope this doesn't get worse. I don't quite know what this
is indicating. I guess we will be all right, even without adult
supervision, as long as he can drive. We are out of the
Red clay area and are in deep, dark, rich soil. No wonder things are
bigger here. I'll bet you don't have to take a chisel to the
garden. |
